The Princess And Her Prince

Pretty sure that the "prince" is hoping to keep his title and position
until the princess is at least 30 years old.  :)

Lions & Tigers & Bears!! Oh My!

Last week we were blessed with some seriously nice weather for March and, although we knew the niceness would be short-lived at this point, we decided to take advantage of it and go to the zoo.   We explored the reptile house since M's one request was to see the crocodiles.  We did see lions and tigers, but we never did make it to the bears.   Maybe next time when we take Grandma Roma.

An encounter with a peacock...they were checking each other out and then Mr. Peacock shrieked right in her face.  Scared M and she wanted to have nothing to do with him after that.

Me and My Girls
(Notice M is keeping a close eye on the pesky peacock.)

She was jumping out and growling at her friend. They were having a great time!

A SLY LOOK
G was so good.  She did keep taking her socks off, dropping them when Mama wasn't looking so that I had back track and find them...maybe that was what the look was for, but she loved the people watching and sunshine.

Sisters and Sunshine...what could be better!

Now back to our normal weather...it is cloudy and cold today, but Spring IS coming and we enjoyed our week of 60+ temps.

Annie

When I was 3 or 4 my mom and dad took me to see the play Annie at the Country Dinner Playhouse (which on a side note is no longer around...tears!!) and I can still remember how I jumped when Mrs. Hanigan came stomping on the stage that first time and how much I loved the songs Tomorrow and Hard Knock Life.  Still love it to this day, which is why I couldn't pass up the chance to take M to see it earlier this month when a local church was putting on Annie to help raise money to dig wells for a village that they sponsor in Africa.  While I'm pretty sure that M did not understand most of what was going on...she was so confused as to why those poor little girls had no mommies and daddies and she thought Annie was a grandma (in her defense Annie was as tall as Mrs. Hanigan, but just to clarify none of her grandmas look a thing like this Annie so who knows... :))  I'm also pretty sure that she enjoyed the music and her "Girls Only" afternoon with Mama and Aunt Katie.

We almost made it through the whole thing, but did have to bail a few songs before the end.  Not bad for an almost 3 year old during nap time.

Conversations with my almost 3 year old...

Me as I peek in the bathroom door:  M, what are you doing ?  Are you going?

M:  Mama, you scared me?

Me:  Did you use the potty or are you playing?

M (holding up her hands):  I didn't use the potty.

Me:  Did you put your hands in the potty?

M (happily stating):  No, Mama.  I put my head in the potty.  See my hair got a little wet.

Oh...that is so much better.  :)

6 Months Old

Dear G,
I can't believe that you are 6 months old already.  Is it possible that half a year has gone by already?  It is hard to imagine that a little over a year ago we were just getting to see our first ultrasound of you.  We were wondering if you were a boy or a girl and mama was feeling pretty nauseous and shaky all the time.  Now here we are today.

You are such a precious little girl.  You have two moods and only two moods.  You are either smiling and laughing or crying because you are ready to go to bed.  In the past month you have gotten so much better at going to bed at night.  You no longer cry for 45 minutes to an hour.  Now you just fuss for a few minutes and are out.  Not only that, but in the last week or so you have begun to sleep through the night.  You sleep from 7 PM until about 6:45 AM.  That is making your mama one happy lady.  You take 2 naps a day although the time of each nap varies each day.  You typically sleep better in the morning though.  Sometimes you take a 3.5 hour nap in the morning.

G you are VERY interested in food. While we didn't start your sister on baby food until she was 6 months old, you were so interested that we began giving you solids at 5 months.  You LOVE them!!  We laugh about how you have food envy.  Mama has also started giving you a sippy cup of water at your meals in hopes that you will catch on since you will no longer take a bottle from anyone.  Stinker!!!

The newest developmental milestone that you have hit though and the one that is making you the happiest....you can now sit up all on your own.  You love it!!  Now you can watch your big sister as she runs around the room.  I know that before long you are going to be scooting around after her, giving her a run for her money (boy is she not going to like it when she has to start sharing her toys with you), but for now I am having fun watching you build your strength.  You still topple over pretty easily, but you are getting stronger every day.

Baby girl, you are my gift from God.  Your mama loves you forever and always.

Let's Try This Again

About 2 years ago we got our first Mac computer.  Since my only experiences with Macs were using the outdated ones in my classroom (the ones that were broken more often than not), I was not really fond of the idea of spending our money on one of "those" computers.  My husband wore me down by saying that a Mac computer was what he wanted for his graduation present.  Ugh!!  How could I argue with that...so we got the dreaded Mac and after having it for about a month....I was IN LOVE.  How had I not wanted one of these wonderful machines.   LOVE IT, but I do not love the iweb program.  My experiences with it have been less than positive so I'm giving up and moving our family blog to blogger (Yes, Shawnie, I can hear you cheering now. :)).

Just so everyone knows this blog's intent is to keep all of our family and friends up to date on what is going on in our lives and in the lives of our 2 growing daughters.  So here's to trying this blog thing again....
