Same or Different?

I think they look completely different.  Definitely sisters, but not all that alike.  What do you think?  Here are my kiddos at the same age, in the same pjs, same location, doing the same activity, and both are making silly faces.

Lovin Us Some Muse

We are not sure if we should be proud or scared that we are teaching her to "resist the man."
You have to admit that the song is super catchy though.

547.5 Days

My sweet little G,

I love this age.  How I wish I could slow down these months and just soak up your  cuteness.  Your giggles, your coy little smiles when you know that you are being sneaky or teasing someone, the way you yell, "DA!" when you want your daddy's attention, your hugs in the morning, the way you lay your tiny hands on the sides of my face and just smile at me, the hugs that quickly become tackles that you give your sister, your shyness when you are dancing (you sway, but as soon as you notice us watching you duck your head with this shy smile and stop), the way you are such a good mommy to your baby dolls (you rock them, take them on stroller rides, feed them, and constantly change their diapers), how you love to help and are so proud of yourself when you can complete a job on your own, and how my kisses still make everything better.

You have survived getting all your molars at one time (along with another tooth).  So tough!

You are on the brink of speaking.  What will I do with 2 talking girls?!  You sign, point, and yell to communicate and, in between all of this, we are understanding more and more of your words.  My favorites right now are "ish" (fish) and "es" yes.

You have very strong opinions about your food and if you decide that you do not like/want something you will NOT eat it.  You go without food many nights because you absolutely refuse to eat.  Stinker!

You are exerting your will more these days.  We knew it was coming.  You can be quite dramatic when things don't go your way.  You perfected the "pathetic" look by the time you were a few months old, but now you've added the throw-yourself-to-the ground-and scream move also.  You haven't figured out that the move will not get you what you want.  :)

And...the car seat is not your favorite all of a sudden (you fight it at first, but quickly get over it) and you still despise having your face washed.

18 months have come and gone in a blink of an eye.  I constantly remind myself to cherish every moment with you.

I love you bunches and bunches,

Your Mama

Conversations with my 3 Year Old

This morning while driving in the car the girls and I were listening to a song about Matthew 6:19-21 ("Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."). M instantly tuned in to the treasure part.

M: TREASURE!!!! (She is very into pirates and buried treasure right now.)

Me: Yes, baby, but they aren't talking about buried treasure like money and jewels. They are talking about treasure that can be stored up in heaven. (Pausing to try to explain this to a 3 yo) God stores up treasure or rewards for us in heaven when we do things that please him. (It was the best I could do spur of the moment AND in 3 yo language!)

The car got really quiet for a while and then:

M: I think I LOVE God and that He can store up that treasure for me in heaven. Can that be a treasure for God in heaven, Mommy?

Me: Yes, baby! I think that God will love that you are giving him your love.

Thank you, Lord, for my little girl who is starting to put things together, who loves you with a childlike faith, and reminds me that I should love you with that same faith and innocence.

(On a side note...the CD is from Seeds Family Worship. If you've never heard of them, you should check them out. Awesome! And when you buy a CD for yourself you get one to give to a friend. Bonus! And the music won't make you want to bang your head against a window. Double bonus!)
