So Long, Farewell...

The theme of 2012 so far:  Good-byes

The first week of January we said good-bye to diapers.

This morning we said good-bye to our crib.

It was another one of those bittersweet moments for me, the Mama.  As you can tell, G was VERY excited to have a big girl bed, which is always so fun to watch.  One of my goals as a Mama is to raise confident and independent kids, so it is a joy to see them transition to new things with excitement, but my heart aches a little bit because I know what they don't.  That we have just experienced a "last" in their life and in mine.  I will never again place my baby girl in her bed or come and lift her out of bed in the morning.  Nope!  She can "do it herself," which is a good thing.  So I save my tears for later, smile at her and tell her how proud I am (because I am) and that she is such a BIG girl (because she is).  And life moves on.  From a "last" to a "first."  So long, crib!  Hello, FIRST night in the big girl bed.

Did she stay in bed? :) I'm dreading the big girl bed transition for Anna...

She did an amazing job at staying in her bed last night. There were some tears at naps because it was different and different is scary when you are two, but other than that it has been a smooth transition. Fingers crossed. :)
