A WHOLE HAND

My Dear Little Girl,

You are FIVE.
5.
A whole hand old.
You are finally the age you have been wishing to be since you turned four.
You are now old enough to begin kindergarten.
Transitioning from preschooler to school-ager.
What an exciting age to be!!!

Yep!!  This is kinda how your Mama feels. :)

Fun Facts about your FIVE year old self:

You can write your first name and are fascinated with how to spell words.  You help me sound out many words and love to write your letters in the salt box that I put together for you.

We have read quite a few chapter books in the last couple of months:  The Littles, Stuart Little, Peter Pan (an abridged version), Snow White, Ramona the Pest (you are appalled at how naughty she is), and we just now started Little House in the Big Woods.  Mama loves to read books with you.

Another love:  Books on CD.  How much fun you have listening to books on your own in your room.

When you color now you are very aware of fine details and do a great job staying in the lines.

I think that you would paint every day if I let you.  Water colors, finger paints, regular paints, whatever.

Your favorite color is officially purple, which is why you now have purple walls in your room.  Fun. Fun.

Genesis 1:1, Psalm 89:28, Proverbs 3:1,5, 1 Timothy 4:12, and John 3:16 are the verses that we have learned so far in 2012.  You learn them so quickly and your love for Jesus is growing each day!!!

Music is still a love of yours.  Singing, dancing, making music with instruments, as long as there is music you are a happy girl and, just like your daddy, you can remember the words to a song after only hearing it once or twice.

Learning to ride a bike is something that you are determined to do.  Mama and Daddy got you a bike for your birthday so now you won't need to ride the neighbor's bikes anymore.  :)

Right now you are in dance class, soccer and swimming lessons and enjoy all three.

Favorite toys at this age:  Disney Princess/Prince dolls.  You and G could play for hours with them.  I love listening to your creative play.

My beautiful girl, how your Mama loves you and looks forward to watching all your adventures this year.  I know that you will face them with courage (just like Ruth, one of your favorite Bible characters), determination, and a smile on your face.  You will take your outgoing, fun-loving and caring personality with you each step of the way.  I'm so very proud of you.

I pray that you will continue to remember that you are "fearfully and wonderfully made," that you will "not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself" (as one of your favorite songs says), and that, above all else, you will "love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind."

I love you bunches and bunches,

Your Mama

Beautifully written! Calling her a school ager makes her sound so old! Love the picture. :)
