Pick Your Own

In the past almost TEN years of my life, I have moved 3 times and learned that no matter where you live there will be things that you absolutely LOVE about a place (usually you don't discover these things during your first year tho) and then there will be those things that you pretty much can't stand.  I can tell you that I CAN NOT STAND winter where we currently live, but I can tell you that I LOVE most of spring, all of summer and fall, I love all of the trees (although they were kind of suffocating when we first moved here), and I absolutely love (and will miss) all of the places throughout the year that allow you to come and pick your own fruit.  We have picked apples, raspberries, blueberries, and this past week we went and picked strawberries.  Strawberry-picking was on my list of things to do before moving.  Check.  Check.  :)

We didn't make out too badly.  Between me and two of my friends (and our kids who "helped" us) we gathered about 24 pounds of strawberries.  Let me tell you...8 pounds of strawberries don't look like a ton when you are out in the field, but when you get them home and are trying to get them in your frig...Yikes!  It is a LOT of strawberries.

They were only supposed to eat one.  Not my rule.
The girls did pretty good following the rule, but it wasn't easy.

The only thing better than this...if we were in CA and picking these beauties.

Just getting started

Lovin' the berries, not lovin' the grass on her legs.

M was actually a pretty dedicated picker.
By the end she was losing her focus and picking the not-so-red ones though.
